Heidi Knierim, Founder of Canna Industries and Executive Director of the nonprofit My Compassion has hosted over 200 events where she continues to advocate for medical exploration for the treatment of cancer and other debilitating diseases, especially for pediatric patients.
She explains, “After the 420 Canna Expo earlier this year in Mt. Pleasant where we had a great outdoor reception with food & networking, we started looking for another unique destination and were so happy to find that in the Grand Traverse Resort. The reception will take place in a 500′ outdoor tent with a patio area that will be our consumption space. We’re bringing in a wide range of provisioning centers, such positive reaction. We don’t just want this to be about cannabis, we want it to be focused on the overall experience with wine & beer.”
Among the unique features of the exhibit floor Saturday will be a “Pop-Up” Conference. “We’ve created a unique way for attendees and exhibitors to stay excited and engaged,” states Cathleen Francois, Executive Director of GreeningDetroit.com, Media Sponsor and PR lead for the event. “We’re aiming past the idea of the traditional exhibit floor. It’s all about increasing anticipation, participation and elation. The speakers will be highlighted and lime-lighted at their booths with unique presentations and scattered in several areas around the floor. Each presentation will be introduced in a fun and mildly elaborate way. I’ve sponsored and created hundreds of events, but nothing quite like this.”
The conference hall and exhibits will be open from 10am – 5pm on Saturday. Attendees will have access to the showroom floor, pop-ups, presentations, and each will receive a bag full of goodies. The conference lineup of licensed businesses and the companies that support them will be announced soon, and the organizers stress that there’s plenty to enjoy at the conference & ball even for people who don’t consume cannabis. We want to create something for the normal tourist, and we know that some people haven’t gotten comfortable with consuming. We chose a perfect area and time for fall color & make it a ball.”
The Masquerade Ball will take place in the evening outdoors in the enclosed tent from 7pm until Midnight. Attendees will arrive to a champagne toast and appetizers, a delicious dinner & decadent dessert, prepared by the awesome chefs of Grand Traverse Resort followed by a night of music and dancing, with a cannabis friendly designated area for ticket holders only.
Proceeds from the 18 Hole scramble support one of the most important causes the cannabis industry should be supporting: cannabis for the treatment of childhood diseases. There will be lots of fun, food and prizes!
